“Reflections & Refractions” (2018)
This series was a collaboration between Charlotte Richards and Elizabeth Tomos. The image is a digital scan of tree bark using a hand-held scanner. This process warps the image, resulting in a stretching and queering of the surface of the image. The image is split into its colour data and reconstructed on the screen. The black colour data was then discarded, leaving only the cyan, magenta and yellow data. The prints were then collaboratively editioned on Elizabeth Tomos’ unique print-making machine. The edition is the resulting three colour separation screenprints. Each image is completely unique due to the method of making, so these are not editioned in the traditional sense. See process below.
