Elizabeth Tomos has over fifteen years of experience as an artist and delivering arts education in both adult, further and higher education contexts, as well as more informal gallery and arts learning spaces. She has an ongoing commitment to delivering arts projects and educational opportunities to support wellbeing, resilience, and adaptation in light of the ecological crisis. She is able to provide mentorship, consultation, and workshops in the following areas of specialism:

Specialisms:

  • Ecological/ Environmental/ Land-based/ Climate Change in the Arts. My practice-based PhD was framed in relation to Eco-Queer-Crip scholarship and all of my current practice operates in this area.

  • Esotericism and Occulture in the Arts. I have been the director of Trans- States, a research network for esoteric and occultural scholarship for many years. I have a particular interest in animism and spiritual ecology.

  • Practice-based research and pedagogy for the arts. I am well versed in curiculum development in UKHEI contexts having been a Learning Designer, Course Leader and Senior Lecturer. I have led a range of professional development workshops and programmes for educators, and provided mentoring and developmental opportunities for research and pedagogical projects.

  • Perform//Print. This is a term I use to describe my medium which combines my two specialist areas Performance Art andPrintmaking (in the expanded field). On graduating from my BA as a performance artist I worked primarily at the intersection between dance, drawing, and place/site-specificity. I later studied printmaking at UWE Bristol and during my MA. It is now through this hybrid medium that I develop rituals in relationship to place.

  • Pigment making: Pigment making is an Endangered Heritage Craft. I have been making place-based and site-specific art materials to use in my own performances and prints for many years. I have co-founded a small company making place-based art materials in Cornwall. You can find out more via Cornish Inks. I have a range of skills in earth pigment and botanical inks for drawing, painting, and printmaking.
